About the NACE Code
NACE is the abbreviation of "Statistical Classification of Economic Activities." It is a system established by the European Union to collect statistics on economic activities according to a common standard. It is also compatible with the internationally used ISIC (International Standard Industrial Classification).
In Türkiye, NACE codes began to be used as part of harmonisation efforts with the European Union. The Revenue Administration has also applied this coding system since 2013. NACE codes, which determine the fields of activity of businesses, are six digits long and are therefore also referred to as the "six-digit activity code."
Who Determines the NACE Code?
According to the regulation on the "Grouping of Professions in Chambers and Commodity Exchanges," published in the Official Gazette No. 25705 dated 19 January 2005, the task of determining the activity codes of members registered with chambers and exchanges has been assigned to the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB).
Change of Main NACE Code
- The requested activity code (NACE) must be consistent with the business subjects registered with the Chamber Registry Directorate.
- If it is not consistent, the change of business subject must first be registered with the Bartın Trade Registry Directorate.
- The requested code is then expected to be recorded on the tax certificate.
- For a NACE change request, an application is made to the Chamber Registry Directorate by attaching the tax certificate and the taxpayer status letter obtained from the tax office to a petition addressed to our Chamber.
Request for Additional NACE Code
- The additional activity code requested must be consistent with the business subject in the existing trade registry records.
- For requests that are not consistent, the change of business subject must first be registered.
- The application must be submitted to the Chamber Registry Directorate with the tax office taxpayer status certificate attached to the petition.
