Official Letter to the Bartın Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye on the Age Limit for Admitting Children to Day Care Centers
An opinion has been requested regarding the problems experienced with the admission of children under 24 months to day care centres.
Within the scope of the professional committee meetings and consultations with members held by the Bartın Chamber of Commerce and Industry in October–November 2025, feedback received from day care centres operating in our province was evaluated. In these evaluations, it was stated that the inability to admit children under 24 months to day care centres under the legislation in force constitutes a significant problem for the sector.
In the views conveyed by our members, it was noted that, because children under 24 months cannot be admitted to day care centres, families turn to individual home care services, that this situation carries risks for the safety and development of children, and that it also increases informal employment.
These matters have been brought to the attention of the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services by means of this letter, and it has been requested that the Directorate's assessments regarding the 24-month age limit set out in the legislation be shared with our Chamber.
In line with the views and assessments that your Directorate deems appropriate, it is planned to take up the matter with the Ministry through the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye and to undertake the necessary initiatives.
The Bartın Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues its efforts to convey the structural problems faced by sectors, in line with the demands of its members, to the relevant institutions and to contribute to the processes of finding solutions.
